In January 2009, Paul and Zena volunteered their services in Pacific, Wash. after unexpected flooding affected more than 40 homes and businesses. The two spent part of three weekends in Pacific helping residents.
Mayor Rich Hildreth was particularly concerned with a few residents including a woman who had been undergoing chemotherapy for cancer and whose immune system had been greatly diminished. An apartment complex the team inspected had seen some of the worst flooding, and all the bottom apartments had to be gutted.
This is the second flood zone that Enviro-Clean has visited. The business also inspected a home in Adna, Wash. in July 2008 after the December 2007 flooding. He helped a family whose baby had been chronically sick since her birth shortly after the flooding. (See video below for a clip from King 5 News about the visit to Adna.)
It was that experience that led Paul to volunteer his services when flooding hits Western Washington. Toxic mold can begin growing within 24-48 hours after water recedes, and detecting toxic mold in the early stages and before the homes have been repaired can save time, money, and possible health problems.
